This cover uses the strongest magnets available, double-aluminum automotive grade insulation and premium fabrics to create window covers that are durable enough to last through all your adventures.

What is the R-Value of these window covers?
R-value is a building insulation spec based on 6 inches of insulation. Without 6 inches of insulation, an R-value will be inaccurate. The window covers are made with 5 mm automotive-grade PE foam insulation. If you install the covers on all windows and leave them in all day, the inside of the van will be approximately 20 degrees F cooler than the outside temperature (assuming the rest of the van is properly insulated and the cabin is separated from the cockpit).
BARE METAL (Cargo Vans): This cover will attach to the bare metal around the window. Standard factory glass, after market CRL, AMA, VanWindows Direct or other glass is all compatible with this window cover. *Will not work if window has been “framed” in with fabric, wood, plastic, etc.*
PASSENGER VANS: With the factory plastic trim or emergency window remaining in place, our magnet strength should grab through the plastic trim but in addition on our regular crew window (MERC007, VE3017), we have stitched in along the top of each cover velcro that can be used to additionally adhere the window cover in place along the top. We include VHB velcro in each window cover. Please clean the plastic before adhering the VHB to the top of the window frame.
DIRECT FIT: The window cover is sized to fit the metal frame of the window itself. Metal tabs/3M adhesive kit are included to attach to the window frame and line up with where the magnets are located inside the window cover. *Only compatible with the stated direct fit window model*
ADVENTURE WAGON: For people with framing covering the window pocket are now supported with a smaller crew window cover. This grabs on to the small bare metal flat section around the glass and should accomodate all aftermarket windows installed in that section. For best installation with ADV Kits, you will need to tuck it in about 1/4 inch to get the best light blocking seal. Alternatively you can buy the larger cover and put magnets (sold separately) behind the wall panel and the magnets will grab through there.
STORYTELLER VANS: This is new to our collection as so many have asked for an upgrade to this location. Our cover folds up in place and can open one side to the other and come in both colors.

I’m happy to give a shout out to VanLife Outfitters. These folks are an incredible example of how a company should conduct business. Although I’m building a truck camper, I have bought several things from VanLife outfitters and their customer service is bar none . I would never hesitate recommending VanLife outfitters to anyone whether they are building a van camper or boat. And I might add even a tiny home. Everyone that I’ve talked to have been nothing but incredible. In particular, Jason in technical support was an incredible blessing to me. I had a problem with the Aqua Hot Gen 1 heater I bought from them. It was not the heater fault, but something I did. Jason helped bird-dog the solution and together we got it fixed. He stuck with me, did research, and called me back several times to make sure that the problem was resolved.
