Description
This hardware kit (and also this wiring kit) are required by Dometic to be used to install either the RTX 1000 or RTX 2000 12-volt rooftop air conditioners to have a valid warranty. You can purchase this kit separately if needed or it’s bundled with the RTX 1000 or RTX 2000 air conditioners.
This installation hardware kit comes with the following components that allow for rapid and secure installation.
- Interior trim. Note, this trim is fairly large, so many installers with camper vans, decide not to use this piece and, instead, make their own interior trim that matches their ceiling treatment.
- Rubber gasket (shorter) for sealing the AC baseplate to the roof of the installation. Note that the required wiring kit includes a taller version. Most installers prefer the shorter version but the taller version is helpful in certain installation conditions.
- Mounting brackets
- Various hardware (as pictured) for securing the unit
- A 24-volt wiring harness. Note: we only sell the 12-volt versions of the RTX 1000 or RTX 2000. Therefore, this 24-volt wiring harness should NOT be used. Instead, you need to purchase the 12-volt wiring kit.

I’m happy to give a shout out to VanLife Outfitters. These folks are an incredible example of how a company should conduct business. Although I’m building a truck camper, I have bought several things from VanLife outfitters and their customer service is bar none . I would never hesitate recommending VanLife outfitters to anyone whether they are building a van camper or boat. And I might add even a tiny home. Everyone that I’ve talked to have been nothing but incredible. In particular, Jason in technical support was an incredible blessing to me. I had a problem with the Aqua Hot Gen 1 heater I bought from them. It was not the heater fault, but something I did. Jason helped bird-dog the solution and together we got it fixed. He stuck with me, did research, and called me back several times to make sure that the problem was resolved.
