Performance & Efficiency

The Nomadic X3 uses variable-speed compressor technology that allows the system to scale power consumption based on cooling demand.

Eco Mode is recommended for normal operation and provides efficient cooling with lower power consumption.
Max Mode delivers maximum cooling for short periods, such as initially cooling a hot van, before switching back to Eco mode.

Nomadic recommends at least 400Ah of lithium battery capacity, depending on your desired runtime and environment.

Wiring Notes

Units shipped starting mid-2024 include DC power wires with ring terminals exiting the bottom of the unit. Earlier versions used Anderson connectors.

These wires must be connected to your DC electrical system using appropriately sized wiring (2 AWG recommended).

If using the Nomadic DIY installation kit, note that the included wiring uses Anderson connectors. You may need to provide a mating connector or splice the wiring depending on your setup.

Installation Notes

The X3 installs in a standard 14" × 14" roof opening.

For best results, we recommend building a wood support frame around the roof opening that matches the height of your ceiling finish. Waterproofing this frame (for example with FlexSeal) helps protect against condensation and ensures the airflow is directed into the living space instead of the ceiling cavity.

This support frame also helps eliminate the need for the trim ring included in Nomadic’s optional DIY installation kit.
