48V Victron Complete Camper Van Electrical System Bundle - Secondary Alternator - "Grid Slayer"
SKU:48VBundle-SecondaryAlt-P
In stock
The 48V Victron Electrical System - Secondary Alternator Bundle is our most advanced electrical system — engineered for vanlifers who want to operate completely independently of the grid, indefinitely. Built around a 48-volt architecture with Victron Lithium NG batteries, an external Lynx Smart BMS NG, and a dedicated high-output 48V secondary alternator, this is a fundamentally different class of system than anything else we offer. Higher voltage means lower current, less heat, smaller wiring, and greater efficiency — especially when running the high-draw appliances that define a truly off-grid build. If you're running a rooftop air conditioner, an induction cooktop, and a full mobile office simultaneously, this is the system that handles it without flinching. And at 14.4kWh, this is our largest battery capacity bundle.
🔧 Wiring, terminals, and fuses included — we've already sized and spec'd every component, wire, terminal connector, and fuse to work together for your exact configuration. No spreadsheets, no wasted time, no guesswork — skip the headache.
💰 Pay for what you need, nothing more — wire and terminals are typically sold in bulk, leaving you with an expensive pile of leftovers you'll never use. Every Grid Slayer bundle includes exactly what your install requires, plus a few spares for peace of mind.
Features:
- Battery capacity: 300Ah (48V) — ~14.4kWh
- Inverter/Charger: 3000W continuous
- Alternator charging: Up to 100A at 48V (4800W)
- Shore power: 30A (up to ~3,600W)
- 12V loads: powered via Victron Orion 48/12/60 DC-DC converter
- Monitoring: Cerbo GX + 7" GX Touch 70 touchscreen + VRM remote portal
Beyond the Hardware
- ⚙️ Every component is firmware-updated and pre-configured before it ships — all Victron devices and the Wakespeed WS500 are set up to communicate with each other right out of the box, so you're not starting from scratch with factory defaults
- 📋 Comprehensive wiring and connector diagram included for install guidance — laminated, large format
- 🛠️ Questions during your install? Vanlife Outfitters' expert support team has you covered — reach out anytime
Who Is This For?
The "Grid Slayer" is built for the vanlifer who has outgrown the limits of a 12V system and wants maximum efficiency, maximum capability, and true off-grid independence. It's a great fit if you:
- Live in your van full-time and run high-draw appliances daily — air conditioning, induction cooking, power tools — without compromise
- Want the efficiency advantages of a 48V system — at four times the voltage of 12V, your system draws less current for the same power output, meaning less heat, less energy loss, and smaller wiring throughout
- Want the fastest possible battery recharge while driving via a dedicated high-output 48V secondary alternator — far beyond what any DC-DC charger can deliver
- Are planning a propane-free, fully electric van build and need a system capable of supporting that lifestyle indefinitely
- Want to run a 48V rooftop air conditioner directly from your battery bank without the inverter losses of an AC-powered unit
- Want a system where every component is networked and visible from a single 7" touchscreen and remotely via the VRM portal
- Are ready for Victron's premium Lithium NG platform with closed-loop external BMS control for the highest level of battery safety and performance
- Want the ability to expand and add a fourth battery down the line — the external BMS setup makes it straightforward.
What Can It Do?
With ~14.4kWh of Victron Lithium NG power at 48V, a 3000W inverter, and a dedicated high-output 48V secondary alternator, the Grid Slayer is built for vanlifers who refuse to compromise:
- ❄️ Run a 48V rooftop air conditioner directly from your battery bank — native 48V DC air conditioners run with less energy loss than AC-powered equivalents, and this system is built to support them
- 🍳 Cook on an induction cooktop, run a microwave, and power the rest of your van simultaneously without breaking a sweat
- 🔋 Recover your battery bank fast on driving days — the 48V secondary alternator delivers up to 4800W of charging power while you drive
- 💻 Power a full mobile office — multiple monitors, laptops, hard drives, and all your devices, all day
- 📊 Monitor everything from one 7" touchscreen — battery state, inverter load, alternator output, and more, all networked through the Cerbo GX
- 🌐 Check your system remotely via Victron's VRM portal from anywhere in the world
- 🔌 Plug into shore power with full surge protection when it's available, and let the MultiPlus handle the switchover automatically
- 💡 Power all your 12V loads — lights, fans, water pump, air heater — via the included Victron Orion 48/12/60 DC-DC converter
What it won't do: run a rooftop air conditioner indefinitely without using shore power or turning on your engine to take advantage of the massive recharging power of your secondary alternator — even ~14.4kWh has limits against a sustained high draw.
Adding a Sun Seeker solar bundle completes the charging picture: secondary alternator, solar, and shore power.
How Does It Compare to the Road Runner? (Why 48V?)
Both the Road Runner and the Grid Slayer use Victron Lithium NG batteries, the Lynx Smart BMS NG, a secondary alternator, and the full Cerbo GX ecosystem. The fundamental difference is voltage — and voltage changes everything at this level of system.
The Road Runner operates at 12V, which is simpler to integrate with 12V van loads and accessories. The Grid Slayer operates at 48V, which means four times less current for the same power output. Less current means less heat, less voltage drop, smaller wiring, and better overall system efficiency — advantages that compound significantly when you're running an air conditioner, an induction cooktop, and a full office setup simultaneously. The 48V system also opens the door to native 48V air conditioners that run directly from your battery bank without inverter losses. The trade-off is that 12V loads require the included Orion 48/12/60 DC-DC converter, adding a small layer of complexity.
For a deeper dive on the 12V vs 48V decision, check out our 48V secondary alternator blog post.
Why a Secondary Alternator?
A DC-DC charger is a great starting point for alternator charging — but it maxes out at 50-100 amps. The Nations 48V secondary alternator paired with the Wakespeed WS500 Pro regulator is in a different league entirely — think of it as a powerful generator that runs off your engine every time you drive. Because the alternator operates natively at 48V, it charges your battery bank directly and efficiently — no DC-DC conversion losses in the charging path.
- DC-DC charger alone: 50-100A into a 12V battery while driving
- 48V secondary alternator: up to 100A at 48V (4800W) into your battery while driving
The Wakespeed WS500 Pro is what makes this safe and intelligent. It's the only alternator regulator that uses current, voltage, and temperature simultaneously to deliver precise, battery-friendly charging — and it communicates directly with the Cerbo GX via CAN bus so alternator output is visible right on your dashboard alongside everything else.

Why Victron Lithium NG Batteries With an External BMS?
The Grid Slayer uses Victron's premium Lithium NG batteries paired with the Lynx Smart BMS NG — a fundamentally different architecture than the SOK batteries with internal BMS used in our Base Camp, Weekend Warrior, and Trail Blazer bundles. Here's why it matters:
- Higher continuous discharge rates — Victron Lithium NG batteries support significantly higher continuous discharge rates, meaning fewer batteries are needed to support heavy inverter loads
- Closed-loop BMS control — the Lynx Smart BMS NG communicates directly with your inverter, DC-DC converter, and charge controller via the Cerbo GX, automatically managing charge and discharge to keep your batteries healthy without any manual intervention
- Built-in 1000A safety contactor — acts as a secondary safety mechanism capable of disconnecting the entire system if a fault is detected, and doubles as a remote-controllable main system switch
- Pre-alarm warnings — the BMS provides advance warning before any shutdown due to low cell voltage, so you're never caught off guard
- Full Cerbo GX integration — battery state, fuse monitoring, and BMS status are all visible on your GX Touch 70 and remotely via the VRM portal

This is the big one — we understand how frustrating it is to buy all of your main system components and then be left to research and separately purchase the dozens of little parts and pieces you need to put it all together. We include everything needed for a complete install, including all wire and terminal connectors, sized to your system's components. We only source high-quality parts, including Ancor wire and terminals.
What's Not Included:
- Tools — crimpers, wire strippers, a drill, etc.
- Solar - We think DC-DC (alternator charging) and shore power are the best, and most powerful options to start with. Adding solar charging is largely dependent on available rooftop space. Check out our roof top solar bundles here!
- 120V Branch Circuit Breakers and 12V Blade Fuses for your WFCO AC/DC Load Center. A main 50 amp breaker is included, but breakers for your 120V branch circuits are not.
Prefer to build your own bundle instead? Check out our Bundle Builder, which walks you through your entire system step by step. It begins with the basics, like system voltage and battery type, then guides you through each essential component so you can customize your system to fit your needs.
*Please note - this bundle requires additional prep time by our team - the lead time is 3-5 days before it ships out.

I’m happy to give a shout out to VanLife Outfitters. These folks are an incredible example of how a company should conduct business. Although I’m building a truck camper, I have bought several things from VanLife outfitters and their customer service is bar none . I would never hesitate recommending VanLife outfitters to anyone whether they are building a van camper or boat. And I might add even a tiny home. Everyone that I’ve talked to have been nothing but incredible. In particular, Jason in technical support was an incredible blessing to me. I had a problem with the Aqua Hot Gen 1 heater I bought from them. It was not the heater fault, but something I did. Jason helped bird-dog the solution and together we got it fixed. He stuck with me, did research, and called me back several times to make sure that the problem was resolved. These people know the business, many have their on rigs, which gives them the best experience. Thanks you Vanlife Outfitters!!!!
