Description
This handle-operated, double acrylic glazed Mini Heki Style roof light (skylight) for motorhomes and RVs fits neatly into a 15.75″ x 15.75″ (400 x 400mm) roof opening. The Heki Style features a double-glazed, slightly tinted plastic dome. An inner frame holds a darkening blind and insect screen which can be deployed across the skylight opening for shade and fresh air without bugs! Operated by a hand lever, the dome can be opened to three different positions.
Worldwide, Dometic sells 4x versions of this Heki Style but as a USA distributor, we only have access to this version which is the one in bold in the list below. The differences are the maximum roof/ceiling height and “with forced ventilation” or “without forced ventilation”. The “without forced ventilation” includes a gasket that seals the skylight lid/dome to the base when fully closed. Without this gasket, there can be wind noise while underway. So, we offer compatible rubber gasket material as an optional “add-on” when purchasing that you can fit yourself into this channel (photo) on the skylight lid/dome.
- Mini Heki Style, for roof/ceiling depth of 25-42mm, with forced ventilation
- Mini Heki Style, for roof/ceiling depth of 43-60mm, with forced ventilation
- Mini Heki Style, for roof/ceiling depth of 25-42mm without forced ventilation
- Mini Heki Style, for roof/ceiling depth of 43-60mm, without forced ventilation
Regarding the roof/ceiling depth, the Heki is comprised of three “layers”. The top piece is the skylight/dome itself (“outer frame” in the manual), which goes through the roof opening (photo) is about 1″ tall/deep so it will come through the roof opening in your van by about 1″ tall/deep. The middle piece that screws into the top portion to secure the unit (called the “mounting frame” in the manual) is about 1-3/4″ and can be cut down to the necessary height (photo). Note that the top and middle pieces ship screwed together and must be unscrewed/separated before installation. Finally, the interior trim (called “inner frame” in the manual) (phot0) is about 1″ tall/deep and installs “over” the middle piece so it doesn’t really add depth to the final install. Since photos are worth thousands of words, check out this photo album that shows all the pieces and how they stack.
