Description
Whether you’re trying to keep the van cool during the summer or sealing in the heat in the winter, we’ve got you covered. Designed for stealth camping, these window covers have external facing black fabric for privacy and safety.
This cover uses the strongest magnets available, double-aluminum automotive grade insulation and premium fabrics to create window covers that are durable enough to last through all your adventures.
What’s Included:
[1] Pair of Rear Door Window Covers (Left & Right Doors)
[1] Storage sack
[1] Installation Kit (Factory Plastic Trim option only)
What is the R-Value of these window covers?
R-value is a building insulation spec based on 6 inches of insulation. Without 6 inches of insulation, an R-value will be inaccurate. The window covers are made with 5 mm automotive-grade PE foam insulation. If you install the covers on all windows and leave them in all day, the inside of the van will be approximately 20 degrees F cooler than the outside temperature (assuming the rest of the van is properly insulated and the cabin is separated from the cockpit).
BARE METAL (Cargo Vans): This cover will attach to the bare metal around the window. Standard factory glass, after market CRL, AMA, VanWindows Direct or other glass is all compatible with this window cover. *Will not work if window has been “framed” in with fabric, wood, plastic, etc.*
FACTORY PLASTIC TRIM: For windows that are surrounded by factory plastic trim. This window cover is smaller in size and uses metal tabs and 3M VHB adhesive tabs that are applied directly onto the glass edge of the window where it meets the plastic trim. The metal tabs do not go on the plastic trim. Your magnetic window cover attaches to the metal tabs adhered to the glass. This process takes about 15-30 mins to install per window.
Installing metal mounting tabs for Rear Door Windows with Factory Plastic Trim:
-
Clean your window glass to remove any dust with an Isopropyl wipe or similar.
-
Remove one side of the VHB tape tabs and attach to metal tab. Repeat for all metal tabs supplied.
-
CAUTION: Try not touch the adhesive side on VHB Tape as oil from your hands might ruin the adhesive.
-
Hold your window cover up to the window frame to identify where the metal mounting tabs should go. The tabs need to match up with the magnets inside the window cover trim.
-
Peel the backing off the other side of VHB tape on the metal tab and stick to the CLEAN WINDOW GLASS (Not the Plastic trim) where they align up to the magnets. Repeat for all magnet locations.
-
Attach the window cover to the metal tabs & you’re all done!
