Description
We highly recommend that you read through this post that details an example electrical system using these components to help you understand how the system works, how you would need to wire it up and configure everything and to help you make decisions on which of the options we offer in the bundle would be best for your power system.
Bundle Includes The Following with FREE Shipping!
- A Victron MK3 to USB Interface that helps you to program/configure your MultiPlus inverter/charger (details on this process).
- The Lynx Distributor(does the work of two bus bars and a whole bunch of fuses). You may want two of these: one for the batteries and another for the loads/chargers.
- Cerbo GX monitoring and system control (see below)
Your Choice of MultiPlus Inverter/Charger
The original 12/2000/80, the newer 12/2000/80, the MultiPlus II 12/3000/120, or the dual phase/240 volt capable MultiPlus II 12/3000/120. Please feel free to contact us if you’re not sure which one to choose!
Your Choice of Victron Smart Lithium Batteries
Choose between one or more of either the 200 amp hour Smart batteries or the 330 amp hour Smart batteries. We don’t recommend mixing the two versions. *Note, each battery will include a Blue Sea Terminal/MRBF Fuse block and 250 amp terminal fuse.
Your Choice of BMS/Battery Monitor
The batteries included in this bundle require an external BMS. You can choose between the following BMS options.
- The simple and affordable VE.Bus BMS
- The Smart BMS CL 12/100 which combines the functionality of the BMS with alternator charging (from a 12-volt vehicle). The maximum charging current from the vehicle alternator/battery through the CL 12/100 is electronically limited to approximately 90% of the fuse rating you use with the unit and configure in the VictronConnect app for the device. For example, if you use a 60 amp fuse, the current will be limited to approximately 50 amps. If you choose this option we will include 1x “Cable for Smart BMS CL 12/100 to MultiPlus” for use with the MultiPlus inverter/charger. This is required so that the BMS can load/charge disconnect the MultiPlus when necessary. If you also add a solar charge controller (MPPT) your bundle will also include a VE.Direct non-inverting remote on-off cable to use with the Smart Solar charge controller. Please refer to the Smart BMS 12/100 CL manual for details.
- The most feature-rich (and also most expensive) Lynx Smart BMS. Note that this BMS enables you to upgrade to a dedicated charging alternator as we illustrate in this blog post in the future.
If you choose the VE.Bus BMS or the Smart BMSL CL 12/100 your bundle will come with the Victron SmartShunt for battery monitoring. If you choose the Lynx Smart BMS, a battery monitoring shunt is integrated into the BMS.
System Control & Monitoring with Victron’s Cerbo GX and the GX Touch Screen
We offer two versions of the Cerbo GX in this bundle: the original Cerbo GX or a less-expensive Cerbo-S GX that does not have the analog temperature sensor inputs, the resistive tank monitoring inputs, and the BMS.Can port. This PDF datasheet compares the two shipping models. If you use a digital temp sensor like the Bluetooth Ruuvitags we sell or a digital tank monitoring solution like the SeeLevel system the removed ports on the Cerbo-S GX are not needed. The Cerbo GX offers sophisticated monitoring and control of the components of your electrical system – both locally in your van and, if you choose, “in the cloud” through their VRM portal online. The Cerbo GX pairs with a small, colorful touch screen (Touch 50 or Touch 70) to control the various displays. In addition to monitoring, you can control your MultiPlus inverter/charger from the touch display.
Optional Add-Ons
- Orion DC-DC charger for charging from your alternator when driving
- Your choice SmartSolar MPPT solar charge controllers. Need help knowing what size solar charge controller you need? Check out this awesome calculator.
- One or more Victron Smart BatteryProtects. You’ll probably want two of these if you’re using the VE.Bus BMS and one of them with the Lynx Smart BMS.
- A second Lynx Distributor or Lynx Power In.
Note: we purchase many of the Blue Sea Systems products in bulk with minimal packaging since we must repackage into boxes to ship to you. This allow us to supply our customers with the highest quality products with the least impact on the environment and packaging waste.
